Recess is an essential component of the total educational experience for all students. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and SHAPE America developed Strategies for Recess in Schools to provide schools with evidence-based strategies for recess, and Recess Planning in Schools: A Guide to Putting Strategies for Recess into Practice to help schools develop a written recess plan that integrates the evidence-based strategies. The presenters will explain the benefits of recess, provide an overview of these resources, and share how schools can use the strategies to enhance their recess program and increase student physical activity.
